Their sales pitch will reveal how much money they make on the internet and how they want to share their “secret” with you. They might even mention that you are in a select group of people who have been chosen to receive this information. They will try to convince you that within an hour of setting up a free website, you could be making thousands of dollars a day.
Warning signs should begin to appear. The first question to consider is why it took this sales person so long to find "success". The next concern is do you understand what they are trying to sell. Then, ask yourself why are you in this select group.
Why did they choose you? It might be that your email address was on someone's list? If so, why do they want to share this secret? Why not keep making this amount of money alone or share the secret with family and friends?
For sake of conversation, let's say you decide to check out this opportunity. You may get a free website with a unique address to attract your customers. You may even get a large percentage of the sale when someone buys the product. Did the sales person forget to tell you about attracting customers? Did they mention that it takes time and money? Without customers, you will not make a percentage of anything. You must learn how to market on the internet.
After awhile, the opportunity for elevating your status within the company by paying a monthly membership fee might be presented to you. They may even promise a larger percentage of the profits. Suddenly, "free" is gone and you are spending money. No customers yet? How do you plan to pay for this membership?
Just about the time you are ready to quit, the company will Email you and talk about another organization (that they probably own) that can help develop a high ranking in the search engines, for a monthly fee. How will you pay? Chances are your customers have not arrived as yet. More money will be coming out of your pocket.
Eventually, you will receive another Email from the company describing the money that can be earned through affiliate programs. Chances are they will provide some great opportunities for making the cash you want. Unfortunately, they are probably affilaite programs that require a fee because the company owns them. When you sign up, they will make a profit while you continue to wait for traffic to your site. And still no customers.
Here is the bottom line. You are never going to make any money on the internet for "free". You have to invest your time, your energy and your money if you intend to create and develop a successful online business. If you are considering making the leap to internet marketing, it is going to cost. So be prepared by doing your homework.
